M'sian boy, 2, dies after being left in car for 9 hours by mum who forgot to send him to daycare
The boy's mother only realised what had happened after she got off work.
A two-year-old boy was found dead in Seremban in Malaysia after his 35-year-old mother left him in her car before reporting to work at a nearby bank at around 8am on Jan. 27.
The boy was left in the car for nine hours.
Police received a call about the toddler at 6:15pm, and preliminary investigations revealed that he was found unconscious in the Proton Saga along Jalan Tunku Hassan, reported Malay Mail.
Seremban district police chief ACP Azahar Abdul Rahim stated that the mother only realised what had happened after her work day ended.
He said: “The victim’s mother was said to have forgotten to send her child to the daycare and only realised what had happened around 5 pm when she finished work."
Autopsy ongoing
Azahar stated that the boy was pronounced dead by a medical team at Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital.
His body was sent to Rembau Hospital for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The toddler is believed to have died of heat exhaustion, according to The Star.
The case is being investigated under Malaysia's Child Act for neglect, said Azahar.
He added that the mother was arrested to facilitate investigations.
