Investment firm in Taiwan gifts all staff iPhone 17 Pro Max at company year-end party

During this season of year-end company parties, one company in Taiwan has impressed the internet with their generous gift at their party — every employee received an iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Photos of a company party for Japanese investment firm Nomura Holdings in Taiwan were shared online on Jan. 17, showing the gift announcement on a projector screen.

Every person received a phone each, no lucky draw needed, said a user who posted the photos on Threads.

The iPhone was gifted in gratitude of the staff's outstanding contributions, according to the message displayed on the screen.

A reward

According to Cava, Nomura's gift was an acknowledgement of the company's record-high growth in the Taiwanese stock market, and the profitability of the overall investment industry in 2025.

The company thus decided to reward its staff for their hard work in achieving this good performance.

Nomura Holdings has been in Taiwan for more than 25 years since it was established there in 1998.

With a capital of NT$345 million (S$14 million), it has become one of the top five foreign investment companies in Taiwan.

Everyone?

Its year-end party had between 20 and 30 tables, seating about 300 employees in total, Cava reported.

The Threads user, who was not a Nomura employee but was working at the party venue at the time, said it was the wildest year-end company party employee gift they had seen.

They added that they were not sure if there were any conditions for receiving the gift, it appeared to them that everyone there received a phone.

In another photo posted by a different user, the staff at the tables looked excited by the announcement, holding their phones up to capture the moment.

Those in the comments expressed their awe and envy, with some asking if the company was still hiring.

Currently in Taiwan, an iPhone 17 Pro Max would cost about NT$45,000 (S$1,820).
