Fake bomb threat at Paya Lebar Air Base, investigations ongoing
Bomb sweeps were conducted at the air base and no threats were found.
Investigations are ongoing following online posts about a bomb threat at Paya Lebar Air Base on Jan. 23.
Precautionary measures were taken, and bomb sweeps were conducted at the air base, the Ministry of Defence (Mindef) said in a Facebook post on the same day.
No threat was identified, and investigations are ongoing, it said.
Mindef added that perpetrators of fake bomb threats may be charged under Section 268A of the Penal Code 1871.
The post was first published on a Reddit forum for Singapore national service, but has since been taken down.
Screenshots seen by Mothership showed a post claiming that a bomb would be detonated at a specific time and date within the air base.
The post also named specific locations within the military base and mentioned the names of commanders.
The poster also claimed to have planted "explosives" in some of the vehicles.
