Thai baby sent to hospital after temp housemaid allegedly pours disinfectant into milk bottle
The maid's employer shared the incident in a Dec. 26 Facebook post.
A Thai family's son was sent to the hospital after the temporary housemaid they hired was suspected of pouring disinfectant into the boy's milk bottle.
The boy's mother shared the incident via a Dec. 26, 2025, Facebook post, Thaiger reported, adding that the family hired this temporary housemaid for one day.
This is because the family usually employs two housemaids, where one is responsible for general housework, and another is assigned to care for the woman's son, Kirin.
When the regular housekeeper took a day off, Kirin's mother found the temporary daily housekeeper through a Facebook group and met a woman who introduced herself as Usanee Palang-usa.
Strong chemical smell
Thaiger reported that according to Kirin's mother, Usanee was instructed to focus only on cleaning the house since another maid was already taking care of Kirin.
However, when Kirin drank from his nursing bottle, his grandmother noticed a strong chemical smell coming from the milk.
Upon tasting it, his grandmother found that it was very bitter and smelled strongly of Dettol, a brand known for disinfectant products.
Stable condition
Following this, Kirin's mother rushed home and sent him to the hospital after being informed of the situation.
She later confirmed that Kirin was in stable condition.
However, doctors advised that he remain in hospital overnight for medical staff to closely check for any possible effects from ingesting a toxic substance.
At the same time, Usanee claimed she could not remember doing anything to Kirin's bottle.
She later said she had only wiped the bottle with a cloth that had been used for cleaning the house.
Shortly afterwards, Usanee allegedly took the opportunity to flee the house and disappeared, Thaiger reported.
Surveillance footage
Prior to this, surveillance footage from the family's home showed that Usanee took a half-full baby's bottle, The Bangkok Post reported, adding that she then appeared to pour something inside.

In addition, Usanee was also said to be walking around the house, taking pictures of various belongings and locations instead of cleaning the house.

The Bangkok Post reported that after Kirin's mother shared her story, a social media user claiming to know of Usanee alleged that similar incidents had occurred previously, though authorities have yet to confirm these claims.
In light of this incident, Kirin's mother said she has sent the contaminated milk to a laboratory for further testing, Thiager reported, adding that this is in hopes of obtaining evidence and pursuing legal action against Usanee.
