A total of 72 police summons were issued to motorists caught cutting queues near the traffic light junction at Kilometre 12(J) of the Malaysia–Singapore Second Link Expressway (Linkedua) on Saturday (Dec. 20).

Operation conducted after public complaints

The enforcement operation was carried out by the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of the Iskandar Puteri District Police Headquarters, following complaints from members of the public about queue-cutting behaviour in the area, Harian Metro reported.

The Johor district police chief said the fines were issued over the selfish and irresponsible actions of motorists who cut into traffic queues, disrupting traffic flow and endangering other road users.

“The operation was conducted following public complaints about the impatient and selfish actions of certain drivers who cut queues."

72 summons issued

During the operation, 73 vehicles and 73 individuals were inspected, resulting in 72 summons being issued, he added in a media statement released on the same day.

Police warn of continued enforcement

Johor authorities urged motorists to comply with traffic laws, practise tolerance on the roads and prioritise safety while driving.

According to the district police chief, stricter enforcement action will continue to be taken as a preventive measure to ensure that road laws are adhered to by all parties.
