S'porean Shanti Pereira, 29, wins historic 100m & 200m SEA Games gold in 2023 & 2025
It's called a "double-double".
Shanti Pereira has become the first Singaporean to win the 100m and 200m SEA Games women’s titles back-to-back in 2023 and 2025.
This has made her the first Singaporean woman to achieve a historic double-double.
Double feat
The 29-year-old retained her 100m gold with a time of 11.36 seconds on Dec. 11 at the 2025 SEA Games in Bangkok, Thailand.
On Dec. 13, she won the 200m race at the Supachalasai National Stadium in 23.05 seconds at the biennial event.
Vietnam’s Le Thi Cam Tu took the silver in 23.14sec, and Zion Nelson of the Philippines bagged the bronze in 23.50sec.
Previously, in 2023, Pereira completed a 100m and 200m sprint double at the SEA Games in Cambodia.
Pereira currently holds the 200m national record of 22.57sec.
She joins Vietnam’s Vu Thi Huong as the only women from the region who achieved such a feat in 2007 and 2009.
