S'pore man, 40, who said he consumed drugs with M Ravi to be charged
Investigations are ongoing.
A 40-year-old man will be charged today (Dec. 26) under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
The man, who was there when the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) paramedics attended to M Ravi on Dec. 24, will be charged for arranging a gathering where controlled drugs were consumed.
The offence carries a maximum of 20 years imprisonment and 10 strokes of the cane.
In a joint statement by the Central Narcotics Bureau and Singapore Police Force, preliminary investigation showed that both men had known each other since 2023.
They had met through a social networking app.
The 40-year-old said that they had met at the apartment on Dec. 24 to consume drugs, which allegedly came from both of them, and they engaged in other activities.
According to the man, Ravi exhibited concerning symptoms and became unresponsive after they allegedly consumed the drugs.
He administered CPR on Ravi before calling SCDF.
Ravi was admitted unconscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced dead.
Follow-up investigations also revealed that the man may have deliberately disposed of some drugs before police arrived.
He has also been referred to the police for a possible offence of perverting the course of justice.
Investigations are ongoing.
