Passengers on a Singapore Airlines (SIA) flight bound for Singapore from Korea were greeted by more than just warm smiles and polite greetings.

As they took their seats, water began seeping from the overhead compartment.

However, the minor inconvenience did little to dampen the mood after the cabin crew sprang into action.

Tried with 'pure determination'

A clip of the incident was posted to TikTok by Adeline Lee, who goes by @adelinebabyyy on the platform.

Lee told Mothership that water began dripping from the overhead compartment when they boarded their SIA flight back to Singapore from Korea.

The cabin crew tried with "pure determination" to stem the dripping water with tissues and towels.

They were also seen wiping the compartment to dry it.

The overhead compartments were checked for anything that might be leaking, but none were found, she wrote in her TikTok video.

They eventually resorted to taping cloth, paper and "whatever they [could] find" to try to remedy the situation.

However, water began dripping from the compartment again after the plane took off, which prompted the passengers to use a cup to catch the falling droplets.

Crew handled situation "like champs"

The passenger said that they did not request a change of seats as it was a full flight, and the dripping water stopped eventually.

Lee, who was humoured by the episode, shared that the whole scene was akin to watching the crew attempt a "mini surgery in the sky".

According to her, the cabin crew checked in on them several times during the flight to ensure that they had tissues and fresh blankets.

They also offered to serve them their meals ahead of everyone else.

The affected passengers were eventually given vouchers by the airline before they disembarked to make up for the minor inconvenience.

Lee opined that the cabin crew handled the situation "like champs" and was grateful for their help.

"Super fast, professional, and kind. And thank you for the thoughtful voucher compensation!" She wrote on TikTok.

Water bottle leak

Responding to queries from Mothership, an SIA spokesperson shared that the water came from a customer's water bottle, which leaked in an overhead compartment on board an SIA flight.

The flight was on Nov. 9.

"Our cabin crew promptly cleaned and dried the affected compartment, and used towels and tape to contain the dripping. They also provided assistance to the affected customers, including covering the seats and offering dry towels and blankets," the spokesperson said.

There was no safety risk and the safety of the passengers and crew were not compromised at any point, SIA shared.

"SIA sincerely apologises to the affected customers for the inconvenience caused," the spokesperson added.

@adelinebabyyy When your overhead cabin decides to rain holy water on you 😂💦 The crew was scrambling with tissues, cloths, and pure determination to stop our little in-flight “leaking .” With tape and scissors, carefully patching it up like they were doing a mini surgery in the sky 😂. I honestly feel SQ handled it like champs — super fast, professional, and kind ❤️ And thank you for the thoughtful voucher compensation! #singaporeairlines #sq #flightstory #koreatosingapore ♬ For Comedy - Andromeda
