Former Hotel Miramar S'pore bought for S$160 million, to be rebranded as DoubleTree by Hilton after 1 year's refurbishment
Among the new features planned are pickleball courts.
The former Hotel Miramar Singapore has been acquired by investment firm Aravest and Wee Hur Property, a subsidiary of Wee Hur Holdings, and is set to be rebranded as DoubleTree by Hilton following a refurbishment.
12-month refurbishment
According to The Business Times (BT), the 53-year-old hotel, which ceased operations at the end of October, was purchased for S$160 million, with Wee Hur taking a "significant minority stake".
The hotel will undergo a 12-month refurbishment before re-opening as DoubleTree by Hilton Singapore Robertson Quay in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Once completed, the property will bring the number of Hilton-managed hotels in Singapore to six, joining Conrad Singapore Orchard, Conrad Singapore Marina Bay, Hilton Singapore Orchard, and Hilton Garden Inn Singapore Serangoon.
Hilton will also oversee the upcoming NoMad Singapore at 230 Orchard Road, which is slated to open around the same time.
“The acquisition of Hotel Miramar, together with Wee Hur as our trusted partner, marks Aravest’s first foray into the Singapore hospitality sector and reflects our high conviction in Singapore’s attractiveness as both a commercial and leisure destination," said Aravest CEO Moses Song, as quoted by The Edge.
"We look forward to working with Hilton and Wee Hur to position the property as a standout destination in Robertson Quay and a preferred choice for travellers to Singapore."
Wee Hur Property CEO, Goh Chengyu, added that the partnership brings together Wee Hur's "track record in development and construction" and "Hilton’s operational expertise and Aravest’s investment vision" to create "a new benchmark for hospitality in the area”.
Introduction of pickleball courts
BT reported that the renovation will include a complete refresh of the guest rooms, meeting facilities, lobby, fitness centre and pool deck, alongside enhanced landscaping and the introduction of new recreational amenities.
Among the new features planned are pickleball courts, which will be available to hotel guests, and potentially, the public.
No major redevelopment planned
Although the site had redevelopment potential that could expand its gross floor area by nearly 50 per cent to 351,850 square feet, the new owners have opted to retain the existing structure, BT reported.
They have also chosen not to subdivide the hotel's rooms, retaining an average room size of 26 square metres.
Such a room size is considered spacious by modern hotel standards.
According to Hilton's senior vice-president of development for Asia-Pacific, Clarence Tan, the current room sizes are "a ready-made fit for a DoubleTree", saying that "an old building with good-sized rooms and views of the Singapore River is a precious opportunity".
