M'sia football association fined S$2,456 for violating rules in Asian Cup match in KL
Two Malaysia League clubs were also fined for similar violations.
The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) was fined RM7,788 (S$2,456) by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) on Nov. 21.
According to The Star, a FAM representative had caused a delay during a 2027 Asian Cup qualifier match in Kuala Lumpur on Oct. 14.
Malaysia League clubs Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) and Selangor were also fined for failing to abide by similar rules in the AFC Champions League Elite (ACLE) and AFC Champions League Two (ACL2) competitions.
Caused two-minute match delay
FAM was fined by the AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Committee for violating rules in Malaysia's qualifier match against Laos at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
According to the committee, "the representative of the respondent caused a delay in the start of the second half of the match for two minutes and 30 seconds".
The fine must be paid within 30 days.
Two Malaysia League clubs also fined
On Sep. 30, 11-time consecutive Super League champions JDT were slapped with a RM20,783 (S$6,554) fine after failing to ensure a "clean stadium" at their official training ground ahead of their ACLE clash with Japan's Machida Zelvia.
Selangor were fined RM5,195 (S$1,638) after team representatives caused a one-minute and 20-second delay to the second-half kick-off during their ACL2 match against Persib Bandung on Oct. 23.
The AFC has ordered both clubs to pay their fines within 30 days of the decision.
