WhatsappThe 46th U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney has died at 84 years old, according to a statement by his family, CNN reported.

He served in his role from 2001 to 2009 during the term of former Republican president George W. Bush, who oversaw significant events including the 9/11 terror attacks and the subsequent Iraq War.

While considered to be a hardline conservative, he was notably intensely critical of U.S. President Donald Trump, leading to him becoming ostracised from his party.

His final vote cast in the presidential election of 2024 was for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.
