Couple in China hotel room wake up at midnight to find half-naked stranger with them
The man was staying in the room next door, the hotel later explained.
A couple enjoying a night in a hotel in Suzhou, China, was shocked to wake up in the middle of the night to see a half-naked man they did not know standing in their room.
The husband, who wished to be known only as Sun, told Chinese media City Live he was sleeping soundly when he was suddenly awakened by his wife around midnight on Oct. 28.
A physically imposing man, whom Sun said looked about 100kg in weight, was standing near the foot of their bed, not wearing any shirt or shoes, only a pair of black pants.
Photos and videos that the couple shared with City Live showed the intruder standing a few steps away from the door with his hands on his hips, and looking around the corridor.
He also opened a cupboard beside the door and looked inside it.

Sun was stunned for about 10 seconds before he came back to his senses and called the hotel's front desk and the police.
When Sun asked the man who he was, the man mumbled and could not give a clear answer, so Su let the man leave after that.
"I was very scared at the time," Sun told City Live. "I comforted my wife, saying, 'He might be lost. Let's let him go.' I was afraid he might be a bad person."
A faulty door
The hotel they were staying in, the four-star DoubleTree by Hilton, initially did not answer Su's call for four or five times, according to Sun.
When they finally responded, the hotel admitted that the door to the couple's room was faulty, and that the stranger was a guest staying in the room next door.
The police got a different answer.
According to the case report from the local police station, the hotel front desk had made a mistake with the room keys, and the mix-up caused the man to go into the wrong room.

That same night, the hotel offered to give the couple a refund for their stay and move them to a different room.
However, the experience has traumatised Sun's wife.
Before going to bed every night now, she would ask him repeatedly if the door was locked, Sun said.
She has been scarred, and was even allegedly diagnosed by a doctor to have a stress disorder.
