The suspected drugs were found among packets of dried shrimp and anchovies.
Three Japanese men were arrested at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Nov. 19 for allegedly smuggling 12kg of cocaine.
According to Sinhar Harian, the trio arrived from Bangkok at 1:45 am with six pieces of luggage.
The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) officers noticed suspicious images while scanning their bags.
During the physical inspection of the luggage, the officers discovered a substance believed to be cocaine concealed in vacuum-sealed packages of dried anchovies and shrimp.
AKPS officers found that a total of 12kg of cocaine, worth RM2.4 million (S$314,071), was found in the six pieces of luggage, said Sinhar Harian.
The three were subsequently arrested for drug trafficking, and the case has been handed over to the AKPS narcotics division for further action.
