Ex-teacher, 76, gets 10 months' jail for molesting 2 girls, 12 & 13, at Serangoon Bus Interchange
Lim See Poi was also given an additional 56 days' jail for committing the offences while under a remission order.
A 76-year-old Singaporean former teacher was sentenced to 10 months' jail on Oct. 9 after he molested two girls aged 12 and 13 at the Serangoon Bus Interchange.
According to court documents, Lim See Poi had inappropriately touched the two girls after approaching them and their schoolmate on Aug. 12, 2025.
A gag order has been issued to protect the girls' identities.
Touched girls' shoulders and private parts, said "I love you"
Court documents indicated that the three girls were standing near a stall at the interchange at 3:25pm when Lim approached them.
He placed his hand on the 13-year-old girl's shoulder over her t-shirt while asking her a question.
He then turned to the 12-year-old girl and told her, "I love you", before putting his left hand on her right shoulder.
Lim then proceeded to molest her right breast over her t-shirt with his right hand.
The girl immediately moved away from him.
Lim then left the area, but his actions were captured on CCTV.
He was later arrested on Aug. 13, 2025.
Was reoffending despite remission order
Lim, who has a past criminal record involving similar offences, had molested the girls while under a remission order.
Court documents revealed that he was also convicted in March 2025 after he touched several girls aged between 13 and 17 inappropriately.
On Sep. 20, 2023, he approached four girls at a food court in NEX, talking to them indecently and then touching one girl's arm.
In 2019, Lim received a conditional warning for indecent assault but breached its terms and was charged on Oct. 2, 2020, for indecent assault and insulting a woman's dignity.
Despite receiving another conditional warning on Aug. 19, 2021, and being released without charges, Lim went on to commit further offences.
Sentencing
Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Jahabar sought a total of between eight and 10 months' jail, along with an additional 56 days' jail to account for the remission period, which Lim violated.
He noted that Lim had committed the offences while under the remission period from Jun. 5 to Nov. 3, 2025.
Jahabar said that the key sentencing principles in Lim's case are deterrence and retribution.
He added that for serious sexual offences, especially those involving minors, the main goal is to deter such crimes and protect minors from sexual exploitation or abuse.
