A Singaporean man, who drove to Johor on Sep. 3, accidentally got his passport stamped with the wrong date while at the immigration checkpoint in Malaysia.
Facebook user Tan Daniel shared the incident on Sep. 4 in a Facebook group.
In it, he warned others to be alert when going through customs.
He wrote that it was fortunate that he had stopped at the side of the road after passing customs and looked at his passport, as he then realised that his entry stamp said Aug. 3 instead of Sep. 3.
Out of habit, he had memorised the checkpoint counter number, so he went back to ask about the mistake.
The woman behind the counter allegedly smiled and gave him a look of glee, he claimed.
"Oh, it's the wrong month," she said before amending the stamp, according to Tan.
His post included a photo of his passport, showing two passport stamps.
The first one, dated Aug. 3, had the word "VOID" handwritten over it, while a second stamp, dated Sep. 3, followed below.
In his post, Tan thanked the woman for making the correction promptly, but wondered if there were people who had gone through the same thing as him.
It appeared that some had, according to a comment under his post.
Another commenter said she had passed the checkpoint that same day in a group of seven people, and said they all received the wrong stamp, just like Tan.
Other commenters thanked Tan for sharing the incident and reminded everyone to be alert and check their passports.
