Fugitive Malaysian businessman Low Taek Jho, widely known as Jho Low, has been marked as eligible for the one-off RM100 (S$30.25) Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara) cash aid for low-income Malaysians.

According to New Straits Times (NST), the MyKasih profile of Low was listed as eligible.

The observation was made by politician Koo Shiaw Lee from Malaysia political party Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (Gerakan).

Eligibility questioned

Koo, who is Gerakan's vice-president, drew attention to this anomaly via social media.

He shared a screenshot using Low's MyKad (the Malaysian identity card) number which showed that Low's MyKasih profile is flagged as "eligible".

Koo reportedly questioned Low's eligibility considering his charges in the 1MDB case, reported NST.

"Ordinary citizens get blocked at counters, but a billionaire embroiled in scandal is effortlessly eligible," he reportedly wrote in his post, which appears to have been taken down.

Sara is a government programme intended to assist low-income Malaysians.

However, all Malaysians aged 18 and above are automatically eligible for this one-off RM100 cash aid.

The RM100 cash aid was credited directly to recipients' MyKad on Aug. 31, 2025.

It can be used at over 7,300 participating outlets across the country until Dec 31.

In response to this observation, a few commenters said that Low wouldn't bother to use the money.
