Motorcyclist tries overtaking car dropping off passenger at Shaw Centre, slams into open car door
Collision.
As a car at the roadside next to Shaw Centre was about to drop off passengers on Aug. 13, a motorcyclist tried to overtake it on the left.
But when the passenger opened the door to alight, the rider slammed into it and fell off their motorcycle.
The injured rider declined to be sent to hospital.
Tries to overtake, hits door
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told Mothership that it was alerted to the accident along Claymore Hill on Aug. 13 at about 6:20pm.
Dashcam footage shared to Facebook showed a white Honda had stopped along the road, near the drop-off point for Shaw Centre.
The car did not have its hazard lights turned on at the time.
As a motorcyclist tried to cut between the stopped car and the kerb, a passenger opened the left rear door to get out.
Slamming into the half-open door, the rider lost his balance, fell off the motorcycle, and landed sprawled across the kerb.

Others pointed out that the car driver should have stopped closer to the kerb and turned on the hazard lights to indicate he was dropping off a passenger.
