Japanese woman posts 'office lady' photo & gets 100 million views, starts YouTube account

A Japanese woman, known as SAO, has been going viral on social media.

She introduced herself as a 'salarywoman' who is active as a model and actress on the side, adding that she was previously in an idol group.

Her initial post on X, with a simple caption of "good morning" garnered over 74 million views.

Another reason for her rise to fame on social media was another post on X, which compared SAO to American actress Sydney Sweeney.

The photo of SAO showed her decked out in business attire, smiling at the camera.

The caption reads "which way western man" (a popular meme) and the post has garnered over 36 million views at the time of writing.

Posted an introduction on X

After that post went viral, SAO took to X to introduce herself.

She said that she currently works as an "office lady", and is also active as a model and actress.

She added that she was part of the J-Pop idol group, Tokyo Girls Bravo, under the stage name Araki Saori, till earlier this year.

SAO also revealed that she is planning to upload a YouTube Shorts video and asked fans to show their support for her.

So far, the post has garnered over 8 million views and and 258,000 likes.

After her post on X went viral, SAO went onto Instagram to thank fans, posting more photos of her in the same business outfit.

In the caption, she stated that her post on X had received 60,000 likes and thanked fans for showing support.

She also revealed that her viral photo was originally taken for a photoshoot for Takeda Design and Manufacturing Co. Ltd's website.

Posted a YouTube short

Sticking true to her word, SAO created a YouTube channel and uploaded her first YouTube short on Jul. 29.

In the video, she acknowledged that "[her] face has been spreading all over on X worldwide", thanking fans and stating that her sudden fame is the reason why she decided to start a YouTube channel.

She says that her first YouTube video might be done in a question-and-answer (Q&A) style, but adds that "if there's not much interest, [she] might just give up".

SAO ends the video by thanking fans and expressing her excitement "to start this journey".
