It officially opened on Jul. 1, 2025.
There are currently three outlets in Singapore: The other two are at MacPherson Road, which opened in 2011, and Casuarina Road in Upper Thomson, which opened in 1993.
The MacPherson branch, run by fourth generation owners in the family business, is an offshoot of Casuarina Curry in Upper Thomson.
Little India "bustling" with activity
Kumaran Ramanan, 31, a general manager at Casuarina Curry, said the roti prata chain decided to open in Little India as "it’s a vibrant area rich in culture and bustling with local activity", as well as to introduce something different to the community.
He said: "We believe this location allows us to serve both residents and visitors who appreciate authentic local cuisines, and it aligns with our mission to share our renowned roti prata with a wider community."
"Furthermore, we believe that there is a lack of good, innovative roti pratas in the Little India region, hence the opportunity to open an outlet here," he added.
Origins
Casuarina Curry's origins can be traced to the 1950s.
The original food business was set up by the great-grandfather and grandfather of the present owners.
It had to move several times over the years.
It was initially located at Tanjong Pagar, before moving to Maxwell Road.
After that run, a new restaurant was started at Jalan Kayu, before moving to Sembawang and then to Ang Mo Kio.
It eventually settled at 126 Casuarina Road, before moving again to 136 and 138 Casuarina Road.
Besides prata, it also serves a variety of other Indian cuisine, such as thosai and fish head curry.
The opening hours for the Dunlop Street outlet are from 8am to 11pm daily.
