S'pore comic artist collaborates with Archie Comics to release limited edition SG60 book cover
Limited to 300 copies worldwide.
Chiral Comics, a Singapore-based art studio, has collaborated with Archie Comics Publication to release an exclusive SG60 cover for one of the Archie comic books.
About Chiral Comics and Kang Jing
Established in 2021, Chiral Comics is a Singapore-based art studio specialising in comic book publishing and visual storytelling.
The founder of Chiral Comics, Kang Jing (KJ), is a comic, cover and sketch artist based in Singapore.
He is also the creator of ZHAO, an original wuxia (martial arts) comic series.
Some of his notable works include exclusive Power Rangers comic covers with BOOM! Studios, as well as officially licensed Marvel and Star Wars sketch cards with Topps, a trading card manufacturer.
Collaboration with Archie Comics
KJ told Mothership that reading Archie Comics was a big part of his childhood, so he jumped at the opportunity to work with them.
His project with the Archie editorial team began in April 2025.
When asked about the creative process for the cover, KJ said that working with the Archie editorial team was "an absolute joy".
"I was given a great deal of creative freedom to present my ideas, and they were very supportive of the direction I proposed."
He added that since he had read the comics growing up, he "already had a strong sense of the characters and their personalities", and this allowed him to develop a concept that felt authentic.
He said that the biggest challenge he faced was incorporating his own artistic style into the cover, while staying true to the classic Archie character designs.
KJ also wanted to make sure that the Singapore elements that he added were "natural and celebratory, rather than forced."
"I had a lot of fun working in subtle nods to local culture and I hope fans and collectors will enjoy spotting them all!"

KJ collaborated with Daniele Caramanico, a talented colourist based in Italy, to come up with an exclusive SG60 book cover for Betty & Veronica, Summer in the Sun #1.
KJ took on the role of penciler and inker, while Caramanico handled the colouring.
After several rounds of iterations together, they came up with the cover which they felt portrayed Singapore in the "best and most vibrant way possible".
The book cover will feature the main characters Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead and Reggie taking a selfie in front of the iconic Gardens by the Bay.
Archie is also seen wearing an "I Love SG" t-shirt, while Jughead is snacking on a durian.
"This year, with SG60 as the theme, I wanted to... [create] something that highlights a familiar and iconic part of Singapore — something that locals can instantly recognise and that fans overseas can also connect with."
KJ took on a similar project in 2024, where he created a Singapore exclusive cover for Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, which featured the iconic Marina Bay Sands skyline.
Comics and art scene in Singapore
KJ told Mothership that he hopes this collaboration would encourage more young artists in Singapore to "be brave in chasing their passions and to believe their work can reach an international audience."
He also hopes that Singapore will not only be seen as an economic powerhouse, but a "vibrant creative arts hub".
