2 M'sian men, 17 & 20, allegedly raped female student after robbing her, said money wasn't enough
The student was allegedly left behind by her boyfriend.
Two Malaysian men, aged 17 and 20, allegedly robbed and raped a female university student near a palm oil plantation in Pagoh, Malaysia.
According to New Straits Times (NST), the incident took place at around 7pm on Jul. 8.
The victim and her boyfriend, both in their 20s, were riding a motorcycle near the palm oil plantation when they were intercepted and approached by the two suspects.
Said the money was not enough
NST reported that the suspects had attempted to rob the victim, but she only had RM250 (about S$76) on her.
The suspects told the couple that it was not enough and one of the suspects proceeded to punch the victim's boyfriend in the face, causing him to fall.
He then told the victim's boyfriend to leave his girlfriend behind.
Took the victim to a nearby palm oil plantation
The two suspects then took the victim to the palm oil plantation and allegedly raped her, NST reported.
Malaysia police said that after a report was lodged regarding the incident at 7pm, police were immediately dispatched to track down the suspects.
The suspects were arrested at around 4am at Bakri and Bukit Pasir, Malaysia.
According to NST, the case is being investigated as a gang rape, which carries a jail term of 10 to 30 years, and gang robbery causing injury, which carries a jail term of up to 20 years, with possible caning or fine.
Both suspects are currently in custody to assist with investigations.
The public has also been urged not to speculate and cause unwarranted panic or disrupt public order.
