A man currently based in Taiwan put out a call to search for his biological father, last known to have been in Singapore.

The man, whose user profile is named Alon Liu, was looking for one Lau Kim Wah, possibly spelled Kau Keng Wah.

He reached out for help to locate his father on the Heritage SG Memories Facebook group.

"All I wish now is to know if he is still well. Even hearing just one word from him would bring immense closure and peace to my heart," he had written.

In a comment to his own post, Liu updated that his biological father had likely passed away, but had since discovered someone who could be his half-brother, one Lau Yong Kwee.

He is now searching for him, who is said to have once lived in the Yishun area, to reconnect with his past, and find out more about his long-lost father's life.

Lived in East Coast area, used to run furniture business

According to Liu, his biological father Lau Kim Wah was born on Mar. 20, 1938, and would now be 87 years old.

He is believed to have lived in Singapore for most of his life.

Liu shared that he and his father had been separated for 36 years, with no contact since he was very young.

His parents were never legally married.

At that time, he had brought back alone to Taiwan by his mother.

"Over the years, we completely lost contact—but I have never stopped thinking about him," he added.

In a comment replying to his post, Liu wrote what he wished he could say to his father, if he were alive:

“Though it’s late, I finally found you as I grew up. Thank you for bringing me into this world.

I believe you had your reasons and hardships for leaving. I will strive to be the son you would be proud of — one who looks at the world with love and gives back to society when he can.”

Liu also said that his father used to run a furniture business named Lau Keng Wah Furniture Manufacturer, which is now defunct.

He says they might have lived in the East Coast area of Singapore, possibly at Bayshore Park Apartments.

Liu subsequently discovered that he could have a possible half-brother, one Lau Yong Kwee, who was the last registered director of his father's furniture business.

Liu requested that those with information could reach out to him at his email, or contact his number, +886 972 968 178.

"If anyone happens to know him or has any information, please kindly reach out to me. I would love to learn more about my father’s life and story," he said.

The administrator and members of the Facebook group also reminded people (both the OP and those who may have useful information to share) to be careful of scammers and not transfer money in exchange of information.
