Business class passenger suffers burn on SIA flight after accidental spill, airline apologises
Oh dear.

A man suffered burns onboard a Singapore Airlines (SIA) flight after a cabin crew accidentally spilled scalding hot sauce on his arm.
The Singaporean, who gave his name as Ong, said the incident took place during flight SQ706 from Singapore to Bangkok on May 6.
He had been flying business class at the time.
"They were serving me the chicken rice. But when she served the meal, she accidentally dropped the whole plate on the table," he told Mothership.
"Then the sauce and everything all splashed onto my wrist. I felt a very sharp pain, from the very hot sauce."
To Ong's chagrin, the cabin crew's immediate response to the incident was to offer him a hot towel.
"I was like, hot towel? It's a burn, I need a cold patch or cold water...I really didn't understand," he said.
The cabin crew eventually did fetch him burn cream and an ice pack, but he had to "request it [himself]", he said.
Photos shared by Ong showed the extent of the burn injury.

Ong added that he wrote in to the airline afterwards to provide his feedback on the crew's "quite bad" response to a medical emergency.
"Accidents do happen, but the service...I just think budget airlines are better."
Singapore Airlines' reply
In response to Mothership's queries, a spokesperson from SIA apologised for the incident.
"SIA sincerely apologises to our customer for the incident on flight SQ706 from Singapore to Bangkok on 6th May 2025," the spokesperson said.
"Our cabin crew administered first aid to the customer following the incident, and checked on him regularly during the flight."
The spokesperson added that it has reached out directly to Ong to offer him the necessary medical assistance and support.
