Shenzhen Airlines passengers fight over body odour & perfume smell, crew bitten on arm, flight delayed 2 hours
Several flight attendants were seen intervening.
A Shenzhen Airlines flight on Apr. 1 was delayed from taking off for two hours after two of its passengers got into a fight over body odour and perfume.
According to mainland Chinese media, a flight attendant was also bitten by one of the passengers when cabin crew intervened in the flight.
How did the fight start?
Both passengers were reportedly seated next to each other.
They supposedly came to blows after one passenger objected to the other's perfume, while the other was unhappy with her fellow passenger's body odour, Sin Chew Daily News reported.
Their quarrel eventually escalated into a fight, which led to several flight attendants intervening in an attempt to pull them apart.
One flight attendant was bitten on the arm and another passenger was scratched.
All of the passengers on the plane also had to disembark as a result.
In addition, the flight, which was originally supposed to depart Shenzhen at 5:45pm, did not do so until 7:56pm.
Shenzhen Airlines confirms flight attendant injured in dispute between passengers
Following the incident, Shenzhen Airlines released an official statement on its Weibo page.
In the statement, the airline confirmed that a dispute had occurred between two passengers onboard the flight without disclosing the reason.
The airline added that a flight attendant sustained minor injuries in the arm while maintaining cabin order.
The flight attendant was conveyed to the hospital "promptly" and was not in critical condition.
The passengers involved have been transferred to the police.
"Shenzhen Airlines will do our best to protect the legal rights of our passengers and employees. We urge all passengers to follow in-flight regulations and travel with etiquette," the airline stated.
