PM Lawrence Wong: PAP has finalised candidates for GE2025, will have over 30 new faces

Prime Minister Lawrence Wong presented the team for Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC at the People's Action Party (PAP) Limbang branch in Choa Chu Kang North on Apr. 12.

PM Wong also revealed that the PAP will be introducing over 30 new candidates for this election, and that they have finalised their candidates for GE2025.

PAP introduced 27 new candidates in GE2020.

Largest slate of new faces in PAP's recent history

He noted that while his team at Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC remain unchanged, there will be "more significant changes elsewhere".

This would be the largest slate of new faces in recent history, he said.

He said that new candidates will be introduced in the coming days as each SMC and GRC unveil their candidates.

PM Wong said that this leadership and party renewal was one of his key priorities since he took over as PM.

He said while they have an excellent team of MPs, to "serve Singaporeans better" he needed to "renew and refresh" the PAP team.

This was to bring in "new blood, new ideas and new energy".

'Stakes are high' for Singapore

PM Wong said that he is taking this responsibility as the leader of the country seriously because "the stakes are high" for Singaporeans, Singapore's future and Singapore's place in the world.

Wong said that Singaporeans will soon hear about the PAP's plans and what PAP will set out to do when it publishes its manifesto.
