M'sia man, 21, involved in kidnapping of girl, 16, shot dead by police in car chase

A man in Malaysia was shot dead in Klang, Selangor on Apr. 14 following his reported involvement in the kidnapping of a 16-year-old girl in Seremban.
According to New Straits Times (NST), the 21-year-old man was gunned down at Bandar Bukit Tinggi during a police car chase on the same day.
16-year-old girl kidnapped
The man had reportedly been involved in the girl's kidnapping in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan on Apr. 10.
She was later released on Apr. 11 in Sendayan after her family paid a ransom of RM2 million (S$595,600) in total including RM280,000 (S$83,000) and some jewellery, reported Free Malaysia Today (FMT).
Three men and three women, aged between 21 and 30, had been arrested in Sendayan to assist in investigations.
Police also recovered RM230,000 (S$68,500) and other items, said Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department deputy director Fadil Marsus in a statement.
Car chase led to shootout
According to NST, a car chase ensued in the early morning of Apr. 14 after police managed to locate the man's blue Proton Wira car in Bandar Bukit Tinggi.
When he was spotted, he refused to stop the vehicle and drove against the flow of traffic.
Fadil said that the man later collided with a police car, which started a shootout between him and the officers.
He was later shot dead.
Police also retrieved a semi-automatic pistol and a parang from his vehicle, reported FMT.
Investigations revealed that the man had no prior criminal record.
