GE2025: Maliki Osman won't run in East Coast GRC, new face Hazlina Abdul Halim to replace him
Teams shaping up.
Speaking at a doorstop after an earlier brief on an upcoming road repurposing and Playhub project at Fengshan by fellow East Coast GRC MP Cheryl Chan, Maliki Osman took questions by the media on his role in the upcoming general election.
Maliki confirmed that he would not be running in East Coast GRC.
He said: "I can confirm that I will not be part of the East Coast team that will be standing for the next General Election. I am saying this because I want to pave the way for and show my support for Hazlina Abdul Halim to be the new member of the East Coast GRC team to stand for the next election."
Maliki also said he has not mentioned he was retiring, and that information on where he will stand or what he will do will be relayed later on "when the time comes".
Pasir Ris-Changi next?
He has been in East Coast GRC since 2011.
However, in recent weeks, he has been spotted on the ground with Senior Minister Teo Chee Hean's Pasir Ris team.

Loyang and Flora estates of East Coast GRC, which are Maliki's wards, are now part of the new four-MP Pasir Ris-Changi GRC.
Supporting new face
According to The Straits Times, Maliki had reportedly briefed more than 100 grassroots leaders on Apr. 11 at Siglap Community Club "to put their support" behind new face Hazlina Abdul Halim, who was also at this Apr. 12 event.
