A former director at the Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI) was spotted with Law Minister K Shanmugam at a Nee Soon event on Apr. 6.

Goh Hanyan, a director in the Smart Nation Strategy Office and the national AI group for policy and strategy, left the civil service on Apr. 3.

She was previously seen at a Meet-The-People session in Zhenghua, leading to speculation that she would be fielded in the Holland-Bukit Timah GRC.

Goh shared photos of herself interacting with residents alongside the Nee Soon GRC anchor minister in an Apr. 7 Instagram post.

Like Shanmugam, she was dressed in white.

"Met so many happy families and cheerful little ones at Nee Soon Central's screening of the movie, Hi Noel! yesterday evening," she wrote.

"The community spirit was in full force ❤️"

Apart from Goh, former Nominated MP Syed Harun Alhabsyi was also spotted walking the ground at Nee Soon previously.

He had been accompanying MPs Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, Carrie Tan, Derrick Goh, and Shanmugam on a visit to the former Northview Secondary School.

Who is Goh Hanyan?

A civil servant of 16 years, Goh was involved in developing Smart Nation 2.0, Singapore's refreshed Smart Nation plan, which launched in October 2024.

Prior to joining MDDI, Goh worked for the strategy group for the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) for close to four years, focusing on economy and stability.

She previously spent a decade at the Economic Development Board and was appointed as a deputy director for strategic planning.

In an Instagram post commemorating the end of her public service career, she wrote:

"As I close this chapter and continue service in a different capacity, I do so with immense gratitude for the work, the mission, and above all, the people who made me who I am today."

Goh graduated from Imperial College London with a degree in materials science and engineering.

She also has a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from INSEAD and a Masters in Engineering Management from Columbia University.

She is a mother of three.
