The boy was found to have taken the drugs from his stepfather.
A 15-year-old boy was arrested alongside three other Singaporeans, including the boy's 44-year-old mother and 42-year-old stepfather, at a residential unit in the vicinity of Marsiling Road on the evening of Apr. 9 for suspected drug offences.
Investigations found small amounts of "Ice" and various drug paraphernalia, and all suspects' urine tested positive for controlled drugs.
The boy was found to have taken the drugs from his stepfather.
107 suspected drug offenders arrested
The arrests were part of an island-wide anti-drug operation by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) from Apr. 7 to 11, where a total of 107 suspected drug offenders were arrested.
Around 133g of "Ice", 78g of cannabis, 69g of heroin, 0.4g of ketamine, 16 "Ecstasy" tablets, estimated to be worth more than S$25,400, were seized during the operation, said CNB in a Apr. 14 release.
Areas where operations were conducted included Ang Mo Kio, Balestier, Bedok, Marsiling, Punggol, and Tampines.
Other cases
Another case included a 52-year-old man who was spotted with his elderly mother in their residential unit in the vicinity of Chai Chee Avenue on the evening of Apr. 10.
The man refused to comply with orders by the CNB officers to open the door and had threatened to light up an LPG gas cylinder in the kitchen.
As it was assessed that he might pose a danger to himself and his mother, officers from the Singapore Police Force Special Operations Command, Crisis Negotiation Unit, and Singapore Civil Defence Force responded to the incident.
The man surrendered and was placed under arrest for criminal intimidation and drug-related offences.
Officers found about 6g of heroin, 0.7g of "Ice", and various drug paraphernalia in the unit.
On the morning of Apr. 8, a 50-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman were arrested in a residential unit in the Choa Chu Kang area for suspected drug trafficking offences.
The occupants had refused to comply with the officers' order, and forced entry was effected as a result.
Both Singaporeans were arrested, and about 28g of heroin was seized from within the unit.
Investigations into all arrested suspects are ongoing.
Under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1973, it is an offence for a person to traffic in a controlled drug, offer to traffic in a controlled drug, or to do or offer any act of preparation for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug.
A person found guilty of trafficking more than 15g of diamorphine or “pure heroin” may face the mandatory death penalty.
