A man in Singapore was driving in Lim Chu Kang at around 1pm on Mar. 18 when he caught a rare sight on the road — a crocodile basking in the sun.

After taking two photos of the reptile, the man, surnamed Koo, uploaded them to Facebook page Singapore Wildlife Sightings, according to The Straits Times.

In the photos, a crocodile could be seen chilling diagonally on the left side of the road, unbothered by Koo's presence.

In the caption, Koo wittily wrote: "Someone's pet lizard sunbathing on the road."

Crocodile spotted along Neo Tiew Crescent

Speaking to ST, Koo shared that he initially thought the crocodile came from Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve when he noticed it along Neo Tiew Crescent.

Another possible area it could have come from would be Singapore's only crocodile farm, Long Kuan Hung Crocodile Farm, which is also located along Neo Tiew Crescent.

Mothership has contacted Long Kuan Hung Crocodile Farm for comments.

NParks still searching for crocodile as of Mar. 18

Director of wildlife management and outreach at National Parks Board (NParks) Cyrena Lim confirmed with Mothership that NParks was alerted to the sighting of a crocodile on Tuesday evening.

In response, NParks "immediately activated a team to search for it", but the crocodile remains on the loose.

The team will continue the search on Mar. 19 morning, said Lim.

In the meantime, Lim advised members of the public to stay calm and back away when they encounter a crocodile.

"They should not approach, provoke, or feed the animal," the statement read.

Members of the public can report any encounters to NParks by calling 1800-476-1600.
