A former adult film star from Japan said she has converted to Islam after a trip to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2024.

Kae Asakura, who's known online as Rae Lil Black, posted about her conversion journey on TikTok.

She also spoke about it on an episode with Singaporean podcaster Dzar Ismail.

While in KL last August, she donned a hijab as she wanted to visit mosques and meet Muslim locals, she said.

"And they were so, so nice to me. They welcomed me with open arms," she said.

"So I was like, 'Okay, these people are so nice. Why don't I try to understand their culture?'"

Accusations

During the Ramadan period, Asakura posted about her first experience with fasting.

She also shared videos of her "breaking [her] fast with her fans" online.

But she denied accusations from TikTok users that she was not fasting and "just creating content".

"Well, I am fasting, first of all," she said in a Mar. 7 video.

"I taking care of my business, I am putting my pure intention to Allah. So do not worry about me. Please focus on your life."

Adult films

Asakura also defended herself when asked on the podcast about claims that she was still actively creating adult films.

This is because new films were being released online, even as she shared about her conversion to Islam, according to the comments.

The former adult film star explained that these videos were filmed "in the past", and that she did not own them.

"Once I'm done [filming], they have the rights to publish whenever," she said.

"So some videos are still not published yet, from years ago."

Despite her history, many other Muslims approached her with gifts of dates, books, and even a prayer mat from Mecca, Asakura said.

"I cried a little bit because people are so supportive, and they don't judge."
