Almost as good as the real thing: reviewer
The review heaped praise on the Laksa La Mian for its "heady mix of pungent fermented shrimp, warming galangal, and sweet creamy coconut".
It was also described as "transportive" and "a seafood-y delight".
The reviewer added that the flavour "won't beat a bowl from one of Singapore’s famed hawker centers, but it gets pretty close."
According to the article, they tested brands "that span the Asian continent", and that were also available in the U.S.
The noodles were served to a rotating panel of taste-testers on Wirecutter's kitchen team, and were judged based on appearance, texture, flavour and consistency of broth, spice levels and ease of preparation.
Other well-known instant noodle brands like Nongshim, Indomie, and Samyang also made the list of top ramen.
Not the first time
This is not the first time that Singapore-made instant noodles have gained international acclaim.
American Hans Lienesch, a ramen aficionado known as "The Ramen Rater", has previously highly rated Prima Taste's Singapore Laksa Wholegrain La Mian.
It topped his list for The Top Ten Instant Noodles of All Time for three years running, from 2016 to 2018.
