Residents heard engines and brake sounds
A resident, surnamed Lin, told Shin Min Daily News that she heard a sharp braking sound and saw a police car blocking a Volkswagen.
She said there were six or seven police cars at the scene, which caused a commotion.
Lin described seeing a bespectacled man getting out of the car and sitting on the roadside after being handcuffed by the police.
She also noted that several officers were searching the car with flashlights.
Another resident, surnamed Peng, heard the commotion at around 10pm.
"I thought someone had modified the engine to make that noise," Peng said.
"Then I saw three police cars, followed by many traffic officers arriving at the scene."
Lin added that the incident lasted about two hours.
By the time the man was taken to the police car, a tow truck had already removed the Volkswagen.
