A woman, suspected of driving under the influence, allegedly caused a car accident that killed an 18-year-old youth in Penang, Malaysia.

But when confronted by his family members, the woman reportedly replied: "Your brother is your business, my life is my life."

She was later criticised by the deceased's family for her lack of remorse, and accused of being "cold-blooded", reported Shin Min Daily News.

Argument at the scene

According to the deceased's family members, a police officer had asked the Vietnamese national for her identity card in the wake of the accident on Feb. 19.

But she ignored him.

Believing that the woman didn't understand Malay, Zhuang Huilin (transliteration), the youth's sister, helped to translate the officer's instruction into Mandarin.

In response, she said in Mandarin: "I can't give you my ID card or I'll be dead."

Zhuang retorted: "You can't do this. What if my brother dies? My brother's life doesn't matter, but only yours matters?"

"Your brother is your business, my life is my life," the driver purportedly replied.

'No remorse'

The deceased's father, Zhuang Fushi (transliteration), criticised the driver for showing "no remorse".

He said she has still not apologised for causing the youth's death.

The youth was cremated on Feb. 22.

He also alleged that the woman had only been detained for a day before being released on bail.

This was despite her dangerous act leading to his son's death, he told reporters in a tearful interview at the funeral hall.
