Malaysia budget airline Firefly will be operating more flights to Singapore from Selangor starting from Mar. 24, 2025.

In a press release on Feb. 7, parent company Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) confirmed that the low-cost carrier is expanding its jet operations from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (SZB) in Subang, Selangor with the addition of two new direct flights to Kuching, Sarawak and Changi International Airport from Mar. 24.

Up to seven times weekly departures from Changi Airport

According to the release, Firefly will be utilising its "modern retrofitted" Boeing 737-800 aircraft for the new routes, including the Sarawak flights.

Passengers who purchase its lowest tier ticket will also be entitled to complimentary 7kg carry-on baggage, 10kg check-in baggage, 7kg carry-on baggage and in-flight refreshments.

Those who wish to enjoy 30kg checked baggage and unlimited flight changes may upgrade to the Flex tier.

The additional flights servicing Singapore will take off from Changi Airport to Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport six times a week from Mar. 24, and up to seven times per week starting from Mar. 30, with flights departing at 8:45pm.

Currently, Firefly only operates its Singapore-Subang flights from Seletar Airport.

All-in, one-way promotions until Feb. 28

MAG group managing director Datuk Captain Izham Ismail said that the new routes mark the airline's mission to deliver "enhanced connectivity and convenience" for passengers.

"Complementing our turboprop services in SZB, we aim to offer customers a travel experience that combines comfort, affordability, and efficiency while unlocking new travel opportunities," he added.

The airline originally started offering turboprop services to various domestic and regional destinations from 2008, and will be operating a total of 28 weekly flights using its 737-800 fleet with the addition of the two routes.

Firefly is also running a promotion until Feb. 28 to mark the launch by offering exclusive all-in, one-way fares starting from RM189 (S$57) to Singapore and RM219 (S$67) to Kuching.
