Flying business class is a luxury that many people may never experience.

But for one lucky dalmatian, it's part of parcel of getting around the world.

A video posted on Instagram by @spottytheswissdalmatian on Feb. 9 has been watched by millions.

It showed Spotty, a Swiss Dalmatian, travelling business class with Singapore Airlines on an 8am flight.

The clip, which has garnered 370,000 likes, started with Spotty wagging her tail while waiting in the Changi Airport lounge.

Later, she’s seen comfortably settled in her own seat, perking up when her owner approached.

As the video progressed, Spotty could be seen calmly engaged with the in-flight entertainment, even drawing a smile from a passing flight attendant.

The video ended with the well-behaved pooch napping with her owner.

It was previously revealed on Instagram Stories that the canine was relocating with her owner to Tokyo.

Reactions

Many online commenters were surprised to see a dalmatian travelling in the cabin, rather than the cargo hold.

Her owner later explained in the comments section that Spotty is a registered service dog.

“Singapore Airlines only allow fully vaccinated, government vet certified, registered service dogs in the cabin as far as I’m aware,” wrote the owner.

When curious viewers asked how they managed toilet breaks, the owner shared that Spotty is “very well-trained”.

On the 5.5-hour flight from Singapore to Tokyo, Spotty had no breakfast and limited water until an hour before landing. She ate as usual after arrival and was “perfectly fine”.

As a precaution, the owner brought pee pads, though Spotty never needed them.

Not Spotty’s first flight

This trip to Japan wasn’t Spotty’s first SIA business class experience.

Earlier posts from August and October in 2023 showed her flying from Zurich to Singapore, which is a whopping 12-hour journey.

Despite the extended travel time, Spotty appeared unfazed in the videos, her owner wrote: “Still the best flight we have ever taken✈️”.

SIA’s assistance dog policy

According to SIA’s website, as of Apr. 1, 2023, emotional support dogs were no longer permitted on flights.

Only assistance dogs trained to perform tasks related to a person’s disability or medical condition are allowed.

SIA clarifies that emotional support, comfort, companionship dogs, or assistance dogs-in-training do not qualify.

Passengers may need to provide documentation or answer questions to confirm their dog’s eligibility as an assistance dog.
