Thanks to the quick response of passers-by, a boy whose shoe was stuck in an escalator at Lucky Plaza was rescued in the nick of time.

TikTok user saimarn3 uploaded a video of the incident on Feb. 24, 2025.

The video was captioned: “Be careful on the escalator with children.”

The video appears to be recorded by a camera mounted on a motorcycle helmet.

A boy in front of the person recording the video can be seen, just as he arrives at the top of the escalator, raising his left foot onto his toes:

The boy’s shoe was snagged at the top of the escalator.

A man turned around and quickly tried to pull the boy up.

“Oh my goodness,” the man could be heard saying in a panicked voice as he held onto the boy.

The person recording the video then reached over to the red button on the side of the escalator to stop it from operating.

One man could be heard advising the boy to take off his shoe.

With the assistance of the three men, the boy managed to do so and free himself.

The shoe could then be seen stuck in the gap near the escalator landing:

Mothership has reached out to the Building and Construction Authority and Lucky Plaza for comment.
