S'pore GrabFood rider caught in 4k taking slippers outside flat, claims he was checking if soles were non-slip

A GrabFood delivery rider in Singapore was seen on surveillance camera footage removing a pair of slippers from outside a flat before putting them back.
Footage of the incident, which occurred in Ang Mo Kio, was circulated online.
What footage showed
According to the footage, the delivery rider was seen leaving the food at the gate and taking a photo as proof of delivery.

Just as he was leaving, he reached out to grab a pair of slippers that were on the shoe rack.
It appeared that the rider was unaware there was a surveillance camera outside the unit.
However, just as the door to the unit opened, the rider could be seen putting the slippers back.

Exchange over text
The clip then cut to an exchange over text between the customer and the rider, at around 4:15am.
The customer wrote: "I call police you take my thing."
The rider replied: "Huh? No."
The customer continued: "My Adidas slipper."
The rider responded: "See properly have anot ma'am your slipper."
The customer retorted: "I know you put back."
The rider defended his actions: "Put back ya. Cos I see the slipper base got anti slip or not."
"Never take or steal," the rider added.
Rider suspended
In response to Mothership's queries, Grab said the rider has been suspended saying:
“We are aware of the incident and have since suspended the delivery-partner from our platform after our investigation.”
