A poster advertising scholarship applications for Hwa Chong International School (HCIS) at an MRT station in Singapore has caught the attention of many.

This was the result of the student posing in the poster apparently sporting a pair of S$1,690 Christian Dior sneakers.

Taking to social media, one commenter pointed out the irony of the poster, given that scholarships could better serve those who cannot afford hefty school fees — or expensive shoes.

HCIS is a Singapore-based international school that offers a six-year International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme.

According to the school's website, HCIS tuition fees range from S$28,000 to S$32,000 a year.

A vibe

The specific Christian Dior sneaker the student wore was the Dior Vibe sneakers.

It is made in Italy.
