Kuala Lumpur-Singapore has been named the fourth busiest international flight route in 2024.

The route dropped three spots down from 2023, where it took the top spot as the world's busiest international flight route.

According to a report published by travel data provider OAG, the flight route saw a total of 5,382,163 scheduled seats in 2024 — a 10 per cent increase from the 4,891,952 seats scheduled in 2023.

Two other flight routes to or from Singapore also made it to the top 10.

The Jakarta-Singapore route fell from seventh to eight place, while Bangkok-Singapore retained its spot in ninth place.

Here's how the data looks, year-on-year.

2024

The busiest route for 2024 is Hong Kong-Taipei, with almost 6.8 million seats scheduled.

Cairo-Jeddah has also seen a surge in demand over the years, rising up the ranks from 14th in 2019 to second in 2024.

Most notably, comparing the 2023 and 2024 busiest routes, the Bangkok-Hong Kong route is the only route to enter the top 10 in 2024, up from 11th last year.

According to OAG, the annual ranking is derived from data sourced from its own schedules analyser in the first week of each month across January to December.

Flight data for both directions on each route is collected.

For ranking purposes, OAG has coined the "busiest" routes as ones with the highest number of scheduled seats.
