Singapore has delivered the fifth tranche of humanitarian assistance and aid to Gaza, bringing the total contributions since Oct. 7, 2023 to approximately S$18 million.

The fifth tranche of humanitarian assistance comprises a S$700,000 contribution by Rahmatan Lil Alamin Foundation (RLAF) to UNICEF to support the organisation's humanitarian relief operations.

This amount also includes a contribution of US$200,000 (S$265,230) from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to RLAF.

Fifth tranche of humanitarian assistance

RLAF handed the fifth tranche of humanitarian assistance for Gaza to UNICEF on Friday, Nov. 1.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan and Minister for Social and Family Development Masagos Zulkifli witnessed the handover of the humanitarian assistance.

This is the latest tranche of aid Singapore has contributed to Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023.

To date, the Singapore Government and local NGOs have worked with Egypt, Jordan, the UAE and Cyprus to deliver about S$18 million worth of donations for Gaza.

In January 2024, Singapore sent a two-person team to Gaza to provide medical care for casualties in cooperation with Egypt.

The third tranche of aid was delivered to Gaza in March 2024.

In July 2024, Singapore delivered the fourth tranche of aid to Gaza.

"We reiterate our call for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire"

In a press statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Singapore's commitment to offer humanitarian support to affected populations in Gaza, and will be closely collaborating with international partners such as UNICEF and UN agencies to ensure that humanitarian aid is delivered in a timely manner.

"We reiterate our call for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire, as well as the unconditional, immediate and safe release of all hostages," MFA said.

"We also urge all parties to allow for the urgent, safe and unhindered provision of humanitarian aid to affected civilians in Gaza."
