Commuters at Dhoby Ghaut MRT station apprehended a man who was allegedly recording upskirt videos of women.

According to a Mothership reader, the incident took place on May. 15 at around 10pm.

He shared that he was on the platform waiting for a train when he heard running and shouting behind him.

When he turned to look, he saw a man in a yellow shirt chasing another man in a black shirt.

A woman tailing the pair, repeatedly yelling "pervert" in Mandarin.

In footage shared by the reader, the man in a black shirt was seen running down the escalator as someone yelled to stop the man, alleging he was taking videos of the woman.

When the man in the black shirt reached the platform, he was immediately surrounded by members of the public.

The man in the black shirt appears to say "I never" in response to the accusations.

He tried to flee, but he was eventually caught and stopped by members of the public.

As an SBS Transit staff member attended to the scene, the man in yellow could be heard telling the crowd that the man had taken upskirt photos of a woman.

The Mothership reader shared that once the man was caught, he said nothing.

The whole incident lasted about five minutes, and the crowd dispersed once the man was brought away, said the Mothership reader.

“Our staff responded to the incident where a man was on the ground with fellow commuters around him. As it involved an alleged offence being committed, our staff contacted the Police for assistance," said Grace Wu, SBS Transit spokesperson.

Responding to queries from Mothership, the police said they received a call for assistance at 11 Orchard Road at around 10:05pm.

A 30-year-old man sustained minor injuries but refused conveyance. The 30-year-old man is assisting with investigations for intentional harassment. Police investigations are ongoing.

Five Italians have died while scuba diving in the Maldives.

According to Italy's foreign ministry, they are believed to have died while attempting to explore caves at a depth of 50 metres at the Vaavu Atoll, the BBC reported.

They were reported missing on the afternoon of May 14, CNA reported.

Four of the divers were part of a team from the University of Genoa, including an ecology professor and her 20-year-old daughter, while the fifth diver is an instructor.

The circumstances of their death are under investigation, Italy's foreign ministry added.

Maldivian officials were quoted as saying that this is the country's single worst diving accident.

Rescue operation underway, one body retrieved

The Maldivian authorities have since launched a rescue operation, with one body retrieved thus far at a depth of 60 metres.

The other four divers were not located within the initial round of searches, Maldivian officials were quoted by CNN as saying.

The Maldivian military has described the search operation as a very high risk and added that divers with special equipment had been sent to the area.

The BBC further reported that the cave the five divers entered is divided into three large rooms connected by narrow passages.

As of May 15, two of the three rooms have been explored so far in two dives by the Maldivian Coast Guard, with another dive on May 16 planned to explore the third.

At the time of the group's dive, weather conditions were described as "unfavourable" with a yellow weather alert in place

15-year-old

15-year-old Nur Qaseh Qalisha Binte Fadhlee was last seen on May. 8, 2026, at around 12:20pm.

She was last seen in the vicinity of 30 Cashew Road.

A woman went viral in Thailand for helping her husband find a second wife.

According to the Bangkok Post, the Thai woman Yupin Thadthai led a traditional ceremony in a village in northeastern Thailand.

She acted as the chief organiser and led the engagement procession to welcome her husband's second wife.

The ceremony included more than 10 parade vehicles and a caravan of motorcycles, with friends, family, and local residents joining in, Khaosod English reported.

As the chief organiser, Thadthai personally led the procession carrying the dowry of 300,00 baht (S$11,798) in cash and 5 baht-weight of gold.

Bangkok Post stated that Thadthai had been married to her husband for more than 20 years and had a child together.

The husband runs the local sound system business, online ventures and entertainment operations in the province.

The family shared that the arrangement was made through mutual understanding, Bangkok Post added.

According to Amarin TV, she allowed her husband to have a younger wife, as she had known the younger woman for a long time and saw her as a kind and honest person.

A 12-year-old boy in China allegedly caused a massive office fire after being brought to work by his parent and later playing with a lighter out of boredom.

According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP), the incident took place on Apr. 30 in Ningbo in eastern Zhejiang province.

The parent, whose identity and gender were not disclosed, had reportedly brought the boy to the office in hopes of spending time together and strengthening their parent-son bond.

However, while the parent was busy working, the boy was allegedly left alone in the office.

Boy allegedly started burning tissues with lighter

According to SCMP, the boy later became bored and decided to pass the time by setting paper tissues on fire using a lighter.

Sparks from the burning tissues reportedly landed on clutter near a desk, causing the fire to spread rapidly and eventually engulf the office.

The boy reportedly alerted his parent after realising the situation had escalated.

Employees at the office then attempted to contain the fire using dry-powder extinguishers while firefighters were called to the scene.

According to SCMP, much of the fire had already been extinguished before emergency responders arrived.

However, the office itself was reportedly left heavily damaged.

Photos circulating online later showed blackened walls, charred desks and burnt office equipment.

No injuries were reported.

Losses from the fire were estimated to be in the tens of thousands of yuan, according to reports.

Firefighter urges parents to supervise children

A firefighter at the scene later reminded parents to be vigilant around children and fire hazards.

“Children are curious about everything, but they have a low safety awareness,” the firefighter reportedly said.

The incident also sparked reactions online.

“He is not three or four years old. This boy is apparently spoiled by his family,” one social media user wrote.

Another joked, “I think no boss will allow workers to bring their children to the office in the future.”

There was no evidence of foul play in the deaths of Xu Baolu and Xu Na, a state coroner said on May 15, 2026.

CNA reported that State Coroner Adam Nakhoda delivered an open verdict on the inquiries into the deaths of the father and daughter.

Bodies discovered in October 2025

Earlier reports mentioned that their bodies were discovered on Oct. 6, 2025, at their Housing and Development Board (HDB) flat at Block 324D Sengkang East Way after neighbours complained of a foul smell emanating from the unit.

The father's body was later found in the bedroom in a severe state of decomposition.

The younger Xu's body was discovered near the main door in the living room.

Then aged 48, she weighed only 24kg when she was discovered.

She likely suffered from psychiatric issues, CNA reported the coroner as saying.

Based on the experience of the family's neighbours, it was also clear that she needed help.

According to CNA, the coroner noted the younger Xu to likely be fully dependent on her father, then 75, for her nutritional needs, as neighbours said he bought food for her every day.

He was presumed dead for more than three months when he was found, Lianhe Zaobao reported.

Reclusive

Zaobao noted that the older Xu was described as reclusive, with the report adding that he did not have close friends or acquaintances, and neighbours had not seen the family receive visitors.

The report noted that the older Xu was deeply devoted to his daughter, the coroner said: "Attention he paid to his daughter may have been to his own detriment as he may have neglected his own health.", CNA reported.

There was no evidence to show that the older Xu had medical check-ups or seen a doctor when he was sick, and any chronic illnesses the 75-year-old may have had would have been undiagnosed.

Mental health issues

In that regard, CNA reported that in 2022, the younger Xu saw doctors at the Institute of Mental Health.

She did not return to the hospital to get a confirmed diagnosis or treatment for her condition, despite suffering from psychosis then, according to CNA.

Noting that she was unable to function without her father's assistance due to her mental health issues being so debilitating, the coroner said: "It would appear she was fully dependent on him for her nutritional needs, as evidence from her neighbours was that he would purchase food for her daily."

When older Xu was last seen alive

He noted that the two were not financially strapped as the older Xu withdrew S$500 from a bank account every month.

According to Zaobao, his last withdrawal was made on Jun. 3, 2025.

The older Xu was last seen alive in June or July 2025 by one of his neighbours, who saw him bringing food back to his flat.

Given that one of the laptops found in the flat was last used on Jun. 18, 2025, the state coroner said that the older Xu had likely died on his bed in his bedroom in late June or early July 2025.

"Once he had passed away, Xu, due to her mental health issues, was unable perhaps to deal with his death, and as a result he was left unattended and began to decompose on the bed," said the coroner.

CNA reported that this aligns with the first time neighbours reported a smell to the town council.

The older Xu's bodily fluids were absorbed by the mattress while his body decomposed when he died on his bed, the coroner said, adding that his death may have been discovered earlier if the fluids had seeped into the floor instead.

When younger Xu was last seen alive

As for the younger Xu, she had an interaction with the police at a convenience store on Jun. 29, 2025, the coroner said, adding that she was likely last seen alive in August or September 2025, according to her neighbours' recollection.

The coroner said she could not take care of herself after her father died, likely because she could not go out to buy food for herself, rather than financial reasons.

Noting Xu weighed only 24kg and was malnourished when her body was found, the coroner said this may have contributed to her death.

Unsolved case

He concluded that there was no foul play in her death as there were no signs of a possible suicide or trauma, no internal or external injuries, and no evidence of the house being ransacked.

There were also no signs of trauma in the death of the older Xu.

The coroner added that due to the state of his skeletal remains, it was not possible to determine if he died of natural disease or unnatural causes, such as the ingestion of substances.

Zaobao reported that due to the younger Xu's body being severely decomposed, and the state of the older Xu, both their causes of death could not be determined.

As such, this was ruled to be an unsolved case.

Korean police revealed the identity of a 23-year-old Korean man on May 14, 2026, after he was arrested for fatally stabbing a high school girl and injuring a male student in Gwangju on May 5, 2026.

The Korea Herald reported that the Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency said the personal information of Jang Yoon Gi is set to remain posted on its website for 30 days from May 14, 2026, to Jun. 15, 2026.

This includes Jang's name, age and mugshot.

South Korea discloses a suspect's identity under strict guidelines, The Korea Herald reported, adding that this only takes place when a review committee determines the case to have met certain legal criteria.

Though the decision to reveal Jang's identity was made during a May 8 review meeting, its release was delayed as Jang refused to consent to the disclosure.

Fatal stabbing

This comes after Jang stabbed a 17-year-old second-year high school girl to death on May 5, 2026, where he also injured a 17-year-old male student who came to help after hearing her screams.

According to The Korea Times, the three were not known to each other.

The attack occurred at around 12:11am local time that day near a university in Gwangju, South Korea.

He had apparently spotted the victim a distance away from the crime scene before he later attacked her from behind, The Chosun Daily reported.

Following his crime, Jang was said to have immediately entered a building's restroom to wash his hands and later washed and dried his clothes at an unmanned laundromat, according to The Chosun Daily.

Jang reportedly said during police questioning: "I was going to die anyway, so I wanted to take someone with me."

He claimed his actions were not premeditated as he had supposedly decided to commit the crime while he was contemplating suicide, according to The Korea Times.

Prepared to murder another woman

The case has since been transferred to the prosecution, The Korea Times reported, adding that Jang had prepared to murder a former female work colleague, before he vented his anger on the two students

Prior to this, Jang's former colleague, a Vietnamese national in her 20s, had reported him to the police for stalking on May 3.

He then allegedly targeted the female student out of anger after he was suspected of having searched for the woman who had filed the report and left the area.

Jang said "I am sorry" and remained silent in response to reporters' questions.

The body of a 22-year-old man was found on a beach in Sentosa on the afternoon of May 15.

Responding to queries from Mothership, the police said they received a call for assistance at 10 Siloso Beach Walk on May 15, 2026 at about 1:40pm.

A 22-year-old man was found motionless and was pronounced dead at scene by an SCDF paramedic.

Based on preliminary investigations, the police do not suspect foul play.

Police investigations are ongoing.
