A 24-year-old Malaysian man was arrested for attempting to smuggle more than 2kg of drugs into Singapore on a motorcycle at Tuas Checkpoint on Oct. 21, 2026.
Checks conducted on motorcycle
Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officers referred the Malaysia-registered motorcycle for enhanced checks and uncovered five bundles suspected to contain controlled drugs.
The items were in a tote bag hidden beneath a raincoat in the motorcycle's top box, the ICA news release said.
Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) officers were immediately alerted to the detection and conducted further checks on the man and the motorcycle.
A total of about 1,924g of heroin and 164g of "Ice" were seized.
The drugs have an estimated worth of more than S$222,000 and could potentially feed the addiction of about 1,010 abusers for a week.
Investigations are ongoing.
Those who import into or export from Singapore more than 15g of diamorphine or “pure heroin” may face the death penalty.
