Helper allegedly falls while cleaning window in Sengkang, MOM investigating

A foreign domestic helper allegedly fell while cleaning windows in Sengkang, prompting an investigation by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM).
A video on Facebook showed a woman lying on the floor at the foot of an HDB block.
A squeegee and a spray bottle could be seen on the floor near the woman.

Paramedics from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were seen attending to the woman on the floor.
According to the video, the woman was a foreign domestic worker who fell while cleaning windows.
In response to Mothership's queries, SCDF said they received a call for assistance at Block 121A Rivervale Drive on Oct. 8 at around 10:30am.
One person was conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
MOM investigating
MOM released a statement, stating that it is investigating the incident, The Straits Times reported.
The statement also reminded employers that they are responsible for the safety of their foreign domestic helpers at all times
Employers must guide them on safe practices for tasks like cleaning windows, including checking that window grilles are properly installed and locked throughout the process.
Employers must provide safe working conditions, and those who breach the requirements can be fined up to S$10,000 and/or jailed for up to 12 months.
Employers may also be barred from employing a foreign domestic worker.
