FairPrice Group (FPG) will temporarily reduce the prices of selected chicken and egg products from now till Dec. 31.

The discounts will see the products being offered at their lowest prices since 2021.

This translates to S$4.95 for a tray of 30 eggs, and S$2.50 for 1kg of frozen chicken.

The lowered prices will be available at over 100 FairPrice supermarkets across the island, excluding FairPrice Finest, FairPrice Xtra and FairPrice Online.

Discounts on selected fruits and vegetables will also be extended to the public till the end of 2026, said the group in an Oct. 1 statement.

Keeping protein affordable

The move comes as part of a year-end initiative to deliver over S$2.5 million in savings directly to customers.

FPG is affiliated with the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), and has a social mission to keep essential food affordable for Singapore households.

Vipul Chawla, group CEO of FPG, explained that they managed to achieve the lower prices by partnering with suppliers to increase the supply of chicken and eggs.

"Chicken and eggs are daily staples for most Singapore households, and we want to give customers greater certainty that these essentials will remain within reach," he said.

Earlier this year, FairPrice froze prices on chilled pork and selected seafood and vegetable products for Chinese New Year.

In May, it again froze prices for over 500 essentials amid heightened global uncertainty from the Middle East conflict.
