A 34-year-old man will be charged in court on Aug. 14 for allegedly molesting a 12-year-old girl and his 17-year-old stepdaughter separately on the same day.
The incidents happened on Aug. 12, the police said in a news release.
At about 8:55am that morning, the man allegedly offered to send the 12-year-old victim to school.
He then brought her to a staircase in the vicinity of Sembawang Crescent and molested her, according to the report the police received.
Later at about 12:50pm, he allegedly touched his 17-year-old stepdaughter at her residence in the vicinity of Yishun Street 22.
The police identified the man using images from police cameras, and arrested him that same day.
He will face two charges for outrage of modesty.
One involves the outrage of modesty of a person below 14 years of age, for which he may be jailed up to five years, fined, caned, or any combination of such punishments.
The other charge involves aggravated outrage of modesty against a victim in a close relationship, for which he may be jailed between two and 10 years, and caned.
There may also be enhanced punishment if he is convicted of the second charge, as the offence was allegedly committed against a victim in a close relationship.
