Man praises Beatty Secondary School students for returning lost wallet, tracking him down through NRIC

A TikTok user praised a group of students from Beatty Secondary School after they returned a lost wallet to him with its contents intact.

They'd apparently tracked him down via the address shown on his National Registration Identity Card (NRIC), and made the trip down to deliver it to his door.

Found the wallet on a bus

In CCTV footage posted on TikTok, three male students were seen standing outside a flat.

They rang the doorbell and knocked on the door several times, but no one answered.

One of the students then noticed a camera outside the flat and suggested showing the wallet to whoever may be monitoring it.

"Can show (the wallet to) the camera, I think they're looking through the camera," he could be heard saying.

Another student, who was holding the wallet, then turned towards the camera and raised it.

"Your wallet right? Eh bro got everything inside. Your money also inside, I never steal. Don't worry. Come and take your wallet bro," he said.

A few seconds later, someone could be heard speaking to the students over the intercom, although the conversation was muffled.

The same student then explained that they had found the wallet on Bus 129 a few days earlier.

"After that we just follow your NRIC address, then we come here (to) try and give it to you," he said.

Earned praise online

In a caption accompanying the video, the TikTok user expressed gratitude to the students for returning it with its contents intact.

"I am incredibly grateful that you returned my lost wallet with everything intact. Your honesty and kindness mean more to me than you know," the caption read.

"You've restored my faith in the kindness of young people today. Thank you for doing the right thing."

The man added that the students’ actions also served as an example of responsible behaviour for their peers and the wider community.

Some netizens also praised the students in the comments, with some commending their upbringing.
