A 46-year-old woman was arrested after a fire broke out in a Sembawang Housing & Development Board flat on Jun. 30 at about 5:15pm.
Preliminary investigation into the cause of the fire indicates that it was deliberately set.
What happened
Footage of the incident online showed heavy smoke and bright flames billowing out of the unit's windows.
In response to queries from Mothership, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the fire at around 5:15pm.
The fire involved the bedroom of a 10th-floor unit at Block 512 Wellington Circle.
SCDF personnel extinguished the flames using a water jet.
The Singapore Police Force (SPF) confirmed with Mothership that the 46-year-old woman was conveyed conscious to Singapore General Hospital for smoke inhalation.
She was subsequently arrested for mischief by fire, and both police and SCDF investigations are currently ongoing.
