Man, 38, arrested after allegedly shooting man, 37, with airsoft gun in Tampines

Airsoft guns and ammunition, a knuckle duster, a suspected stun device and an assortment of airsoft gun parts were seized.

A 38-year-old man was arrested for his suspected involvement in voluntarily causing hurt to a 37-year-old man with dangerous weapons.

On Jun. 30 at about 7:36pm, the police received a call for assistance at Tampines Street 81.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the 37-year-old was shot with an airsoft gun, sustaining injuries to his ear and forehead.

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of police and surveillance camera footage, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man who allegedly fired the airsoft gun.

He was subsequently arrested later that same day.

Officers discovered a substantial cache of weapons and prohibited items in the man’s unit.

Several airsoft guns and ammunition, a knuckle duster, a suspected stun device and an assortment of airsoft gun parts were seized.

The man will be charged on Jul. 1 with the offence of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means.

Offenders are liable to a jail term of up to seven years, with caning or fine.

He is also potentially facing additional charges under the Guns, Explosives and Weapons Control Act 2021 and the Penal Code 1871.
