Vehicle at Yishun condo car park catches fire, 1 person taken to hospital

A vehicle caught fire in the basement car park of a condominium in Yishun.

The incident occurred on Jul. 29 at about 8:20pm at Orchid Park Condominium along Yishun Street 81.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said firefighters extinguished the fire with two water jets.

One person was conveyed to Singapore General Hospital for smoke inhalation.

In a Facebook post by Lee Hui Ying, Nee Soon GRC Member of Parliament (MP), she wrote that residents were evacuated and “everyone was calm”.

“Thankfully there were no serious injuries,” she wrote.

Photos showed the walls of the car park charred.

A car also appeared to be completely burnt.

Emergency responders were present.

Lee expressed her gratitude to emergency responders for their “swift response”.

She also mentioned that a police officer and a resident “stepped forward to support”.

“Good to see many neighbours looking out for one another,” she concluded.
